“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Matthew 25:35-36
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we aim to be an ongoing, active presence in our community, serving and caring as God calls us. Please let us know how we can serve and care for you.
Care Baskets
For families with a loved one currently incarcerated
In partnership with Ambassadors for Hope and Compass Mark, we offer care baskets for families that have a loved one who is currently incarcerated. These care baskets include comfort items, a handwritten card, and information on local resources. The basket can be picked up at First Presbyterian and dropped off at the recipient’s home. To receive or send a care basket, email our social worker, Alicia Eltman, at aeltman@straspres.org or complete this form.
Case Management
Sometimes it’s hard to get help. What programs or services are out there? How do I contact them? How do I apply? It can be confusing and overwhelming—we can help you. Alicia Eltman, our social worker, can:
- Find the resources that best fit your unique situation
- Help you complete applications: Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), SNAP, LIHEAP, health insurance, and more!
- Act as a referral source for our agencies
You can reach Alicia Eltman, at aeltman@straspres.org or call the church office at (717) 687-6030.
Community Impact Fund
If you are facing financial hardship, we, in partnership with the Strasburg Ministerium, offer assistance in paying for rent, utilities, or emergency needs. Families must reside in Lancaster County and fill out an application to apply for assistance. Applications can be picked up at the church or emailed to you directly. Contact us at 717-400-1837 or aeltman@straspres.org for more information. Start HERE.
Public Computer / WiFi Access
If you don’t have a personal computer or Internet connection, it can be hard to apply for jobs, fill out applications, complete homework, do research, communicate with loved ones, print documents, or just check out what’s going on in the world. Visit The Well—there is a laptop there for your use, completely free, along with free Wi-Fi, complimentary coffee, snacks, reading materials, and rotating art displays. If you need assistance using the laptop, our social worker is available by appointment—just call the church office at (717) 687-6030.
